Shamanic cultures do not limit 'intelligence' to the brain... but rather experienced their entire physical body as a thinking organism. By stimulating the body & mind simultaneously they would 'journey' to parallel realities where solutions to seemingly unsolvable problems were possible. These 'Vision Quest Journeys' are legendary... and became the basis for acquiring
individual and cultural wisdom. A tribe's capacity to see their future allowed for the responsible selection of any number of choices... and most societal rules were based on experiences derived from these journeys. Therefore, the wisdom of an individual and their culture was acquired less from 'thinking' and more from 'envisioning' their future.
The Seven Souls Retreat will utilize numerous mind/body techniques (TranceDance, Soul Healing) as a way to access various levels of shamanic "trance"... making it possible to duplicate these visionary journeys. All TranceDance / Vision
Quest Retreat participants will first receive valuable information regarding the science, psychology & mysticism of these altered states of mind... and then explore these realities first hand. As a result each retreat participant will be able to "envision"
alternative solutions to whatever life questions they ask. For many these visionary journeys are some of the most powerful experiences in a person's lifetime.
Soul Healing
Soul Healing is a contemporary approach to one of the oldest spiritual healing rituals known to mankind.
Prior to psychology's concepts of forgiveness, or religion's approach to repentance, shamanic cultures from around the world employed ritual healing methods for retrieving damaged pieces of the soul. These rituals effectively healed physical, mental, emotional, sexual traumas . Soul Healing follows this tradition... utilizing a synergy of ancient ritual techniques along with some modern technology.
Shadow Journeys
Ancient mythology frequently speaks of embracing the shadow as a necessary path to spiritual transformation. Religious stories abound about similar journeys into the shadow. Jonah journeys into the belly of the whale, and Jesus Christ ventures alone in the desert for 40 days and 40 nights... both for the purpose of shedding the ego and finding their lost soul. More recently science has revealed that the 'dark energy' of space is really the storehouse of unrealized potentialities. Whether it be mythology, religion or science... they all verify the significance of embracing our shadow as an essential part of healing our lives and realizing our potential.
Within healing circles there is an overemphasis on facing the light as the one and only way to achieve this level of transformation. Religion points to the heavens and new agers speak of embracing the light, yet it is a common experience within both communities that so many individuals eventually become disenchanted, feeling that this path alone leaves them with a deep feeling that something is missing. Could this missing piece be the element of darkness?
Soul Healing recognizes the shadow AND the light as perfect bookends to spiritual wisdom. Expecting healing energy from one without the other is similar to thinking that electricity can be created from a positive charge alone. A negative charge is also required. And so it is with any legitimate approach to transformation... we must FIRST journey through our shadow in order to reach the light of wisdom. Soul Healing is such a journey.
The Soul Healing Ritual: Finding The Lost Pieces of Self
The Soul Healing Ritual employs the use of specifically designed breathing techniques, body dynamics, movement and specially designed sounds and music as catalysts to transport participants into a parallel reality where it becomes possible to re-connect and retrieve lost pieces of our soul. Some Soul Hunting techniques also make it possible to return pieces of another persons soul which was stolen..., either intentionally or absent of malice. Similar to TranceDance, a Soul Hunting Ritual is frequently one of the most profound experiences in a person's lifetime.
