Seiki Soho is a method involving the use of resonance, which enables a living organism to recover its capacity for self-healing. By careful observation of the breathing patterns and the resonance zones as they become perceptible on the body, and by dint of unfailing attention and subtle perceptiveness, the experienced practitioner can enter into a state of osmosis with the person.
Any imbalance or blockage of vital energy shows itself through pain, distress, or even illness, the extreme expression of the body’s efforts to recover a state of harmony: indeed, the natural tendency of any living creature is to seek to maintain a constant energy balance.
Once osmosis occurs between a practitioner and the body and psyche of a person, then resonance has been achieved (resonance = ki): if the practitioner knows how and when to intervene on certain very specific points of the body, the organism then becomes able to regain its harmony and strength.
In fact, if individuals are confident in their own capacity for self-healing, their minds and bodies are free to respond, so that a sensitive and skilled practitioner is then able to identify the points requiring intervention.
The Seiki Soho method rekindles latent sensibilities in the person, who becomes increasingly aware of the changes underway. The body relaxes and is less tense, pain and abnormal sensations are more clearly felt. Later, waste and toxin elimination become more active. The mind also relaxes, becoming more receptive; it too starts to eliminate waste, in harmony with the body.
So Seiki Soho is not only life-enhancing, but also helps develop willpower and self-reliance.
Basic Seiki Principles
There are three basic Principles to the Seiki Method:
1) The use of Integral body movement
In Seiki Soho practice we use a specific way of body movement that roots in the body centre. The entire body is moved as one and thus approaching osmosis. If there is tension in your body this will yield resistance in the person treated and would make treatment ineffective or even cause pain. Thus the use of relaxed integral body movement is important in order to achieve osmosis. As this is not the way we move in everyday habit, we study Kata and Ki exercises and Gioki in order to augment our possibilities.
2) The special use of the breath
When practicing Seiki we make the connection with the breath of the person treated. Especially the end of the breathing out is used to relax into the connection, and then just before the new breath is taken in you release completely and free your mind.
3) The use of the hand without using the hand movement
Seiki unlike Shiatsu or massage does not use stimulation or manipulation. The hands or thumbs are used to make the connection but not to stimulate. Every moment emerges from the relaxed and very sensitive following of the inner movement of the person treated. Seiki is a path of devotion (tariki) trusting that the body already knows the way.
Technique
During a Seiki Soho session, the person who is ‘in charge’, will look for specific resonance-points which allow him/her to bring someone’s energy-system moving. The looking is not so much based upon seeing with the eyes, but merely by sensitivity and careful observation, trying to find out what the person, whom one is dealing with, really needs. To be able to do so, one will empty the mind, and seek to tune in on the energy of a person. The resonance points will allow you to truly communicate with each other (by ‘Osmosis’) and triggers a self-healing process (Menken).
Aim and purpose of Seiki Soho
The aim in Seiki Soho is not to balance a person, as a Shiatsu-practitioner would do, it is neither the aim to nourish a person energetically as in Reiki. The goal of Seiki is to bring the energy (KI) of a person on the move.
Effect
As an effect, the body starts to release stagnation: even hidden, forgotten or oppressed tensions emerge. Kyo and Jitsu come to the surface and start naturally, spontaneously to balance. Also deep trauma, hidden in the unconsciousness, can find their way back to consciousness and are released. In a truly healthy person this happens automatically, every single day. Seiki Soho can bring these processes in action if for some reason they are stuck.Sometimes, the effects are very surprising and seem even miraculous (Myooto).
Result
A person gets rid of his tensions, feels more aware, more in balance with his true self, becomes more sensitive, more human, more natural and more free and independent. Finally ready, willing and eager to take care of him/herself.
Katsugen
As a result of the Seiki method, based upon trust, respect and patience, deep relaxation can be reached, which makes a person more sensitive and aware of his tensions. Our mind is set free and we finally let go our ‘self-control’. When a body starts to release its tensions, spontaneous, regenerating movement might occur, as well on the physical as on the energetic level, on the surface or inside…
We empty the mind to be able to think better, we give up control to reach selfmastership.
What is Katsugen?
Katsugen is a way of letting the natural system of your body take care of itself by allowing it to move freely.
It trains the God-given system in all of us which keeps us healthy so that it is not blunted by the arrogant attitude of the mind.
lt is this arrogance of the mind that can result in undue illness, obesity, (drug) addictions , stress and other mental and physical problems. The purpose of Katsugen is to allow the mind to throw off its illusions and increase its receptivity to the body's natural intelligence.
Katsugen is a way to exercise and tune up your autonomic (involuntary) nervous system. It is a way of moving the body that goes beyond mere exercise or a dance. It is a primal movement coming from the fundamental root of our bodily system.
It’s for people of all ages, all physical abilities, even the physically challenged
Katsugen is a movement that is different for each person, each time that it is practiced. It is generally pleasurable and it could last from just a few minutes to an indefinite length of time. It could be done alone or with a partner, but it is more private than public.
It is possible that you have experienced a mild form of katsugen already. When you sit with your eyes closed, listening to music and swaying gently from side to side, completely oblivious to the external world, you are close to katsugen.
But there is more to katsugen than that. Quite a bit more. Words are just not adequate to describe it. Like love, you have to experience it to really know what it is like…
Naikan Soho and Compassion
Naikan Soho: Through introspection, facing oneself, the patient (client, partner, receiver) will reveal him/herself to you.
By looking into oneself and calming down, one gets to his real self.
By getting to your real self, you create space to guide someone to his inner self.
By doing this, the self disappears and giver and receiver become one.
Looking inside, in a meditative way, looking for the true self, is the way to really get in tune with somebody else. You automatically will get connected with the person you want to communicate with and you’ll get to point zero: the core of your being, the centre of a space where you feel completely safe to finally release your tensions, your sorrows, frustrations and your troubles (traumas) …
If you can create this space where one feels completely at ease, you feel that you can drop your guard and armour: you are getting back to where you came from and where you will go to and deep satisfaction and trust will follow.
Making yourself empty, getting your mind clear, your soul will be as a tranquil pond, reflecting the full moon as it really is, without any deformation, pure and undisturbed.
Only this can lead to true compassion as was described by Buddha: the core attitude of any practitioner of Shiatsu and Oriental medicine. Hei Jo Shin: Honest and sincere mind!
